The NOVA line of Stoneware Glazes consists of a selection of 30 cone 4/6 1180 to 1220'c glazes supplied in powder form. The main difference between the NOVA series and the Stoneware Glazes is that NOVA glazes are mainly formulated from raw materials, such as Kaolin, feldspar, oxides ETC. rather than frits and ceramic stains which are used in the stoneware glazes. There are two significant benefits from using raw materials. Firstly they are less expensive which leads to more economical pricing, secondly raw materials are less dense than frits and stains which makes them easier to suspend in water. To mix the powdered glaze add 4 pints of water to a 3.4kg bucket of glaze. Close the lid firmly and shake vigorously until all the powder has been wetted then use a drill with a mixing attachment to thoroughly mix the glaze. Add up to a pint more water as you are mixing, to achieve your desired viscosity. After mixing it is preferable to strain glaze through a 80mesh sieve.
